首先是一張雙GbE的乙太網路卡，這張不是新東西了，但是為什麼今年特別去提這一張網路卡？如同我研究的主題，iSCSI，GbE終究只有100MB到120MB的速度，要超過這個速度要怎麼辦？就需要802.3ad LACP的支援，這一張網路卡在Lycom的介紹網頁這樣寫著....

我就寫信去問Lycom這是什麼東西，Lycom的support這樣跟我說明，
The spec we put on the web is a simple feature list. More detailed features or questions will be provided upon customer's request. This product is based on Marvell 8072 chip. Marvell provides a utility to do the "teaming" which is defined as follows:
Different network adapter ports installed within one system can be grouped together in a so-called "team" which then acts as a single logical port. Teaming, also called "link aggregation", provides benefits such as bandwidth increase, load balancing, and fault tolerance.
Basic Teaming is the most easiest to setup. Does not require a Gig switch with 802.3ad or LAGG protocol.
Dynamic or Static Teaming requires a managed Gig switch that supports the 802.3ad and LAGG protocol.
8072 can handle jumbo frame sizes up to 10KBs.
網頁上提供的是簡單功能列表，網路卡使用Marvell 8072，原廠提供軟體設定群組功能，提供基本/動態/靜態三種設定，基本群組不需要支援802.3ad/LAGG通訊協定的GbE Switch支援，動態/靜態群組需要支援802.3ad/LAGG通訊協定的網管型GbE Switch支援。8072支援10KBs的Jumbo Frame。
目前做兩個NIC又要可以teaming的主機板很少，所以還是需要Dual NIC的網路卡，其實這樣的產品Intel跟其他品牌也是有，只是我很想做看看目前市面上Dual/Quad NIC的效能跟壓力測試的比較，加上目前來說，除非買硬體的RAID控制卡，有支援PCIE4X/8X的等級，不然市面上已知的入門型NAS大約都在200MB上下，以既有的架構上來說，如果可以簡單的使用Dual NIC達到200MB/s的傳輸率，價格不要太貴，這個產品也是有相當的發揮空間。

由上列的價格可以知道目前Dual/Quad GbE NIC目前確定進入PCIE架構為主的時代，以PCIE架構的高速交換特性，才有辦法做出高速省電體積小的系統。如果有舊系統上面有一堆PCIX擴充槽的使用者現在大概是發揮伺服器餘値的最佳時機點吧，再晚買這些網卡也沒有意義了.....
